A Showcase of Designer Experience

Word from the Pastor: On the seas of life storms may assail us, the winds batter us, and the waves may swamp us, but in the end nothing can ruin us because He is with us.

Text: Luke 8:19-25

  1. The Scriptures so plainly teach us that “by grace you have been saved through faith (i.e. in Christ); and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast (i.e. that no one should have any basis to boast about achieving their own salvation by some kind of human merit.) Ephesians 4.8-9. So then, how does that teaching square with what Jesus tells us in this passage (8.19-21)? How do we reconcile or harmonize the two?
  2. Often we ask our Christian friends if some member of their family who has just passed was a believer. Frequently we something in this vein: “Yes, years ago _______ accepted Christ, although his (or her) relationship with Him never went much beyond that.” In light of Jesus’ words in 8:21, what do you think the Lord would say about that?
  3. What are some of the takeaways from the following narrative (8:22-25) about Jesus stilling the violent storm at sea?
