Adult Sunday Morning Classes

Purpose

To study God’s Word and grow in the understanding of His Word on an intimate, personal, and intellectual level. You can grow in deeper relationships and fellowship with other adults at Lake Bible Church. God wants us to know Him–these classes help us to do that in a strong community.

First Service (9 AM) Classes

Cornerstones

Each Cornerstones class is a walk through a passage of Scripture with the goal of understanding what is being said and why we should care. The class is taught in a lecture format, but questions and discussion are encouraged knowing that we often learn best when study is a group effort. The current study of 1 John will continue into 2016.

Because the class is not tightly structured, questions are welcome and not considered a distraction. Led by Walter Brockhaus, the teaching style is less formal and more, as Walter puts it, an expression of “someone who loves God’s Word and tries my best to understand the relevance of it for my life, and thereby the relevance for the people in the class.”

Cornerstones meets in room 144 during the 9 am service. The class is open to all adults and can be joined at any point throughout the year.

Foundations

Foundations is a college level study of the Scriptures with a secondary objective of teaching how to study and interact with the written word of God. The format is roughly equal parts lecture and discussion. Differing viewpoints and challenging questions are respected and genuinely discussed in the spirit of unity while at the same time an orthodox and evangelical perspective is clearly presented to anchor the direction of the teaching.

Visit the Foundations class page to learn more and obtain current study information and materials.

Foundations meets in room 146 during the 9 am service. The class is open to all adults and can be joined at any point throughout the year.

Second Service (10:45 AM) Classes

Reflections

The Reflections class currently provides a unique opportunity on Sunday morning. While Pastor Jim Andrews teaches through the book of Revelations, class members are encouraged to bring questions about the sermon. Teacher Paul Kelly will expound on themes and issues covered in the sermon giving class participants a chance to reflect on the morning’s message.

Reflections meets in room 243 during the 10:45 am service. The class is open to all adults and can be joined at any point throughout the year. You can learn more by contacting Paul Kelly at p.b.kelly@comcast.net.

Marrieds and Young Marrieds

Lake’s Sunday school class for young married and married couples meets in the Women’s Ministry Room during the 10:45 am service and welcomes all married couples to attend whenever possible and strengthen their marriages.
