Agape Marriage: The Agape class meets in the Marriage Ministry room (room 232) during the 9:00 am service and welcomes all to attend to study the Word together. Led by Mike and Laurie Sheffield who are both winsome, wise and personable, the Agape class features lively discussion, great food, and the instruction of the Word. The Agape class is currently going through a survey of The Old Testament.
Building and Educating The Body of Christ
Lake’s Sunday morning adult classes encourage those that attend and serve as communities within the body as they support each other. Currently most classes are going through a four track curriculum such as Evangelism & Discipleship, Systematic Theology, Church History, Foundations of Faith, or surveys of The Old and New Testament. Other subjects are noted in the chart at the bottom of this page.
Every Sunday at 9:00 AM
The following classes meet the first hour of Worship Services and are open to all adults.
Cornerstones: The Cornerstones class meets in room 150 during the 9:00 am service. The class is open to all adults and can be joined at any point throughout the year.
Each Cornerstones class is a walk through a passage of Scripture with the goal of living in the reality and problems of this world, in light of the reality of knowing God. The current study is focusing on the book of Ecclesiastes. The class is taught in a lecture format, by Walter Brockhaus, however, the teaching style is less formal and more, as Walter puts it, “an expression of someone who loves God’s Word and tries my best to understand the relevance of it for my life, and thereby the relevance for the people in the class.” Questions and discussion are encouraged, because this is where growth happens.
Foundations: The Foundations class meets in room 152 during the 9:00 am service. The class is open to all adults and can be joined at any point throughout the year. Foundations is equal parts lecture and discussion. Differing viewpoints and challenging questions are respected and genuinely discussed in the spirit of unity while at the same time an orthodox and evangelical perspective is clearly presented to anchor the direction of the teaching. To learn more and obtain current study information and materials visit the Foundations class page.
Every Sunday at 10:45 AM
The following classes meet the second hour of Worship Services and are open to all adults.
Reflections: The Reflections class meets in room 152 during the 10:45 am service. The class is open to all adults and can be joined at any point throughout the year. Dan Wilcox and Mike Morris are facilitating a study in Systematic Theology as part of the Lake’s theological training initiative.
Our Sunday morning adult education classes are open to all comers. Each has class has a great deal of freedom in teaching style and content. What you will find is that there is a plan to cover the central ideas and principles of Christianity over a four year cycle in each class. We call this overall study plan CrossTraining. Wether new to any church or a seasoned attender, we aspire to grow your depth of understanding on the Bible, Christianity, and church history.
