A Revealing Correlation
Word from the Pastor: The greater our sense of the measure of God’s forgiveness, the greater the measure of our love for Christ.
Text: Luke 7.36-50
- Re-read our word from the pastor. In the spirit of self examination, apply that to your own walk with God. Does it tell you anything you care to talk about?
- Does this principle reveal or explain anything about what we see (or maybe don’t see) in ranks of professing Christians today? Like what?
- From our narrative today it should be clear that if our love for Christ is to grow and flourish, one huge key is getting a better grip on the extent of our human sinfulness from God has pardoned us in Christ. Suggest some steps we might take to re-familiarize ourselves with the mess we natively are and how we may come to a renewed appreciation of what God’s forgiveness really means.
- Look closely at verses 47-50. Obviously this woman’s love for Christ and faith in Christ are intimately connected. Explain how they are connected. Hint: Can one exist without the other? I.e. can a person claim to trust in Christ and not love Him or love Him and not trust in Him?
