“(After)words From the Lord
Text: Luke 10:16-23- How should verse 16 hearten and encourage those who, in faithfully sharing the gospel and the truth of God’s word, experience social rejection? How should it sober those who like to pronounce that there are many ways to God and Christ doesn’t need to be one of them?
- Of all the blessings we believers can rejoice in, what is numero uno? What are some spiritual dangers in getting fixated on the possession of extraordinary spiritual gifts? (See verses 17, 20)
- In verse 18, the words of Jesus are fascinating, but the meaning is not obvious. What did he mean by seeing Satan “fall like lightning from heaven”, by giving his servants “authority to trample on snakes and serpents”, and finally telling us “nothing will harm you” (when in fact saints have suffered murder and mayhem, etc. down through the centuries)?
- Unpack verse 21. What are the implications? See 1 Corinthians 1:18-21.
