Is the description of the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, to be taken literally or symbolically? If symbolically, what would be the point of emphasis?
Why would the Holy City, removed from any outside threat, need such gigantic walls and yet maintain continually open gates? What is the point?
Looking at 21:8, 21:27 and ahead to 22:15, do you see any room for the doctrine of universalism, that is, the teaching that in the end, all will be saved?
