Text: Luke 9:1-9
- In Pentecostal and charismatic circles it is often claimed that the reason we today do not see a regular profusion of supernatural manifestations today is for lack of faith. Based on the pastor’s comments this morning (relative to verse 1), how would you rebut that claim?
- The narrative (vss 4-6) reminds us of what familiar error many people make when they hear the Word of God, one that causes them to be dismissive of it?
- In most cases when people’s ears do not recognize the voice of God, i.e. attuned to the Holy Spirit, what is the fundamental problem? (v. 7) (see also 1 Corinthians 2:12-16)
- When God is speaking, what is the perfect mental posture? (v. 10)
- Can you describe a situation where you did (or didn’t) look before you leapt, you listened (or didn’t listen) to the voice of God and saw the reward (or penalty) that ensured?
- What evidences confirm (or expose) one who claims a prophetic gift? ( See vss 19-20 and Matthew 7:15-23)
